Prayer Beads (PBRB-1)
This mala necklace is made with repurposed water buffalo bones, dyed in red dye then carved with the protective eye to ward off evil and ignorance.
Most of our prayer malas are made in our handicraft cooperative in Panauti, Nepal and we take special consideration to have 108 beads for the spiritual significance.
Prayer beads can be worn around the neck and/or around the wrist. It is worn for protection from evil and ignorance, used for chanting and prayer. If one is stressed, it can be placed in the palms, gently rubbed with both palms to help reduce stress and anxiety.
Prayer beads are common in many traditions from Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, etc. Everyone has their own ways of using their beads.
In the Hindu and Buddhist traditions, prayers are done in the sequence of three, nine, twenty-one, one hundred eight and then one hundred thousand eight times.
